Ramyun Ramen - WTF Recipe
Let's turn your boring Ramyun Noodles into something delish!
Shin Ramyun Instant Noodles is one of my go-to instant noodles if I am feeling under the weather. It's easy to prepare, it has a subtle flavor, it's spicy and you have full control on the seasoning for more customized experience. The good thing is that due to the flexibility of the seasoning, you can throw in other stuff just to put more life on it especially for the broth.

Shin Ramyun Instant Noodles may be good as it is but why settle if you can upgrade it to another level with the use of longaniza (Spanish) or most commonly known as longganisa in Southeast Asia. The one that we are going to use is Longganisang Lucban originating from Lucban, Quezon. It is characterized by its use of oregano and its garlicky and sour taste. It is made with lean pork, pork fat, coarse salt, garlic, oregano, paprika, sugar, and vinegar.

I love ramen and would love to make something that will turn this lackluster instant noodles to a more appetizing and exciting dish by using Longganisang Lucban, this will be awesome!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pack of Shin Ramyun (Black)
  • 5 pieces of Longganisang Lucban (substitute with any meat of your choice)
  • 4 cloves of garlic (sliced)
  • 650ml of water
  • 1 egg
  • Pepper
  • Salt

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Boil the Longganisang Lucban in a pot with water (100ml), cover and let the longganisa to absorb all the water and pop, this releases its natural oil.
  2. The longganisa should fry on its own oil. Fry until the outside is browned and the texture is crispy. Set aside.
  3. Fry the sliced garlic until browned
    • If you don't have Longganisang Lucban, you may opt to your desired meat and fry it after the garlic.
  4. On the same pan where the longganisa was cooked, put in the rest of the water and put the egg and noodles (cook as per package instruction, DO NOT PUT THE SEASONING).
  5. Just after the noodles are cooked, remove the egg and let it cool, put in the rest of the seasoning and cook for 30 seconds.
  6. Salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve in a bowl, topped it with the Longganisang Lucban and cut the egg in the middle.
  8. Enjoy!

OTHER VARIATIONS/TIPS

  • Want to amp up the hotness? Throw in some chili flakes!
  • You can use any meat if you don't like Longganisa, I prefer liempo or lechon kawali!
  • You may also add more mushroom and bokchoy.
  • Grate some cheese on top!
