Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe
A little piece of heaven on Earth
One of our favorites, admit it! These delicate little things can turn your gloomy day into something euphoric. It's comfort food and it's loved by many so we are here to give you a simple yet delicious recipe and a quick historical background for these babies.

Chocolate chip cookies originated from United States and is classified as drop cookies, which means that they are made from a relatively soft dough (which is traditionally composed of butter and both brown and white sugar, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and vanilla) that is dropped by spoonfuls onto the baking sheet which will then flatten and spread. This piece of heaven was invented by American chefs Ruth Graves Wakefield and Sue Brides way back in 1938.

Yes, we know, like there are thousands of chocolate chip cookie recipes online and even established YouTube chefs and celebrity chefs have their own - as I have been imitating countless recipes, I started streamlining them down and have added my own secret ingredient which is love! This simple Chocolate Chip Cookie will even make you feel that you're a kitchen pro because hey, it's very easy to make and the result? Heaven!

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, (melted)
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups (about 12 ounces) semisweet and/or milk chocolate chips

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a small bowl whisk together flour and baking soda. Set aside
  2. Whisk butter in a separate bowl, gradually adding the white and brown sugar.
  3. Add salt, vanilla, and eggs (a piece at a time) while beating.
  4. Add flour mixture and beat until all ingredients are well mixed.
  5. Stir in the chocolate chips and fold, make sure to equally incorporate the chocolate in the mixture.
    • It's important not to over mix the ingredients preventing aeration that will make your cookies hard as a result.
  6. Cover the bowl with clean wrap and freeze for 30 mins.
  7. Preheat oven 177 °C (350.6 °F)
  8. Drop 1/2 tablespoon ball size of dough in a parchment/baking paper in your baking sheet giving each drop a 2-inch space apart.
  9. Place inside the oven for 8 to 10 minutes. This should give you a golden crust but a chewy center.
  10. Remove from oven, and let it cool on the baking sheet for 1 to 2 minutes then transfer to a wire rack, and let cool completely.

OTHER VARIATIONS / TIPS

  • You can also add nuts! Any nuts will do but I prefer walnuts, yum!
  • You can add your favorite chocolates! Be creative but don't overdo it!
  • Don't be afraid of salt, salt is your friend.
