8 Cuts Burger Blends in SM Megamall, Mandaluyong - WTF Food Review

Burger goodness! Let's see what these guys offer!
When we visited SM Megamall on a sunny Sunday afternoon, we realized we haven't had our lunch yet. Since we are craving for a tasty burger, we headed to 8 Cuts Burger Blends. I've been eyeing this joint for a while now since there is also a branch near us (which is in Eastwood - but just found out that it's already closed) but never had a chance to give it a shot.

We will open my very own gastropub soon and we plan to include burgers as one of its staples so we are looking for inspiration as well.

We sat outside because you will probably end up smelling like a burger once you're done eating probably because of the poor ventilation.

The place is spacious and well air-conditioned. There is a big stuffed teddy bear outside where you can take pictures as your souvenir (my daughter enjoyed it a lot) aside from that, the interior design is very much contemporary and I really love that they have a show kitchen where you can peak and see chefs in action.

What's your beef ey, Chloe?
We grabbed the menu and I was eyeing for details then I saw this small menu which they only offer on weekdays which is the Daily Steals. The server quickly told us that we don't need to worry since they also offer it on weekends.

Pick your poison!
My wife ordered Steal No.1 (1/4lb cheeseburger, skinny fries, and iced tea) (PHP299) and Steal No.3 (The Piggy (lean), onion rings, iced tea) (PHP345) for me. I thought for the price, it was not that bad since it's a complete package. We waited for a good 10-15 minutes when our order arrived.

I quickly snag some of the onion rings and man it is delish, the seasoning is on point and the onions are very well cooked. I told my wife that I will try to replicate their onion rings because it will be a household favorite! Their fries are okay, my daughter enjoyed it.

For the main event, The Piggy - it's very juicy even though it's lean and the seasoning is on point. They've maintained a dry bun even with a juicy burger, throw in some hot sauce on it and it's to die for. You are also given an option whether you want it lean or juicy, if you don't know what to choose, just remember, lean is healthy, juicy is yummy.

For their 1/4lb cheeseburger, I haven't got the chance to taste it because my wife won't let me! From her comments, since she did not choose the lean version, she said it was very juicy and tasty. Talk about being selfish eh?

One thing to note is that - I've requested a hot sauce before we even order, it arrived when our burgers are almost halfway, we've tried calling out 2 servers but they seemed to forgot our request.

Overall, it's a good experience, the burgers were seasoned and grilled very well. The fries win my daughter's heart and the onion rings are to die for. With the price point, I wish they could have added more fries and/or onion rings or probably add a soup just to give a finishing touch for a "wholemeal" vibe.

  • Place
    • The place is simple and very easy to find.
    • Very spacious dining area (inside and outside).
    • TEDDY!
  • Service
    • They are not that very attentive and tend to get confused about who to serve.
  • Price
    • I'll give it to them, with the quality of the food they've served, the price point is fair. Although, it will be better if they can add soup or make your iced tea larger.
