Bag of Beans in Tagaytay City - WTF Food Review

Bag of surprises and euphoria

Ah, Bag of Beans - been hearing tons about this place but we have never been lucky enough to visit one of their branches in Tagaytay (they currently have 4 in the same city, talk about demand). We've been to Tagaytay for the nth time and every time I will search "Good place to eat in Tagaytay" Bag of Beans will always be present on all of the lists which makes us think that "hey, enough is enough, let's give this place a visit".

One fine day when our family decided to stay in Tagaytay for a quick weekend getaway, we drove straight to Bag of Beans for breakfast. It was slightly foggy, chilly and windy that time, giving you that petiks vibe, you know, rain+cloudy skies+cold air+good food? Childhood memories.

Rustic ambiance

We headed straight to the patio tables for a good view and some fresh morning air. As I wander around, my wife and Chloe just decided to sit down and enjoy the morning breeze.

As I breeze through the restaurant, I can't help but appreciate the design. It's rustic but yet it gives a vibrant and elegant emotion all over the place. The garden where we decided to sit gives a soothing and relaxing vibe.

Enough wandering around and let's get busy with the food. I have ordered Beef Tapa (PHP270) and a Hot Chocolate (PHP135), my wife got herself Buttermilk Pancake (PHP190) and Chocolate Chips Pancake (PHP205) for my daughter.

The servers dressed really neat and suave as they gave us a pitcher of water while we wait for our food. I've also checked their souvenir stand just near our table where you can purchase packed coffee beans, some pasalubong, bread and their signature Bag of Beans Hot Cup.

I was able to purchase one but luckily if you've ordered any hot drinks you'll get to experience it and yes, my hot chocolate arrived.

And I must say, one of the best hot chocolate I've ever tasted as it is made from Batangas tablea, one of their finest chocolate products.

How can you be so pretty even if you're hungry?

Alas, our food arrived and I started munching on my beef tapa. It's a solid breakfast set as it is served with egg, fried rice, and veggies. I wish they could have added more rice to it or maybe more beef because the price is steep. Nonetheless, it's delicious and the tapa is cooked very well, not tough but tender.

My wife does not like to eat rice in the morning, she always opts for something light, hence the pancake.

Buttermilk Pancake (PHP190)

We thought that the pancake will be small in size but we were wrong as it's big and fluffy. But the star of that day is Chloe's pancake as it was sprinkled with cuteness all over it. Both pancakes have a fluffy consistency and sweetness to it which is not too overpowering which allows you to pour more honey or orange zest on it to give it a nice wonderful finishing.

Overall, it was one of the best breakfast meals that we have and we will definitely come back for more, it was a short stay but memorable. I can't wait to try their famous coffee and pie.

• The staff are very professional and dressed well. They are courteous and kind, they tend to get very busy but it's no biggie.
• Price 
• Okay, a little grey on this part but considering the quality of food we've tasted, I can let it pass. Pancakes can be good for 2 people if you are not really fond of eating a pancake.
