Meatyard in Pasig - WTF Review
Affordable yet quality goodness on your plate!
Pasig City is literally becoming a culinary melting pot as wherever you look you will see small F&B establishments booming left and right. Some say that if you want to experience high-quality munchies, stray from your regular fast food and cliche restaurant chain and visit hole-in-a-wall restaurants.

Meatyard (Traditional Comfort Food) in Manggahan, Pasig
Meatyard (Traditional Comfort Food) is one of them, located in Manggahan, Pasig near Eastwood City or Marikina. The restaurant boasts its affordable yet straightforward menu. The place is fairly small, quaint and contemporary which I guess works.

Meatyard's counter/big menu
Upon entering, this big @rse menu immediately caught my attention! Hey, there's no need to ask for a menu, it's right in front of me. We thoroughly scan every nook and cranny of the menu (don't worry, they also have a small menu lol). Since it's dinner time and we're here to celebrate my mama's birthday, we've decided to splurge-ish. Oh, and by the way, you will have to go over to the counter to pay and order.

Their actual menu is just a smaller version of the menu on the wall with photo's on it, making it easier to choose if you are looking at the actual dish
We ordered Shredded Beef Tenderloin w/ Mushroom (PHP170), Beef Tenderloin Tapa w/ Egg (PHP160), Herbed Pork Tenderloin Steak (PHP210) and Honey Soy Garlic Chicken Crunch (PHP 160). Since the restaurant is small, they must keep their turnaround fast meaning quick service. The wait time is okay, not quick but not too long of a wait and besides, Chloe made us busy as she quickly entertains us for a couple of minutes.

The order arrived disappointingly, one-by-one, albeit earlier I mentioned that the wait time is okay, I based it on the very first plate that they served. Since we ordered similar dishes (i.e. two orders of Honey Soy Garlic Chicken Crunch and two orders of Beef Tenderloin Tapa w/ Egg) we've expected that similar dishes will be served at the same time but it's not. The Herbed Pork Tenderloin Steak arrived first, followed by one Honey Soy Garlic Chicken Crunch, couple of minutes later the Shredded Beef Tenderloin w/ Mushroom arrived followed by a plate of Beef Tenderloin Tapa w/ Egg then the other Honey Soy Garlic Chicken Crunch and finally another Beef Tenderloin Tapa w/ Egg, hell if you got confused reading, imagine how confused we are while we wait for our orders to be completed.

Anyway, here's a picture of an empty table
Speaking of tables, I like the interior design, especially the rustic vibe provided by the wooden wall planks, tables, and chairs.
Meatyard's Herbed Pork Tenderloin Steak (PHP210)
Herbed Pork Tenderloin Steak (PHP210)
The Herbed Pork Tenderloin Steak is one of my favorites, although not new to my taste as my wife and I have tried this before, it still remained my go-to dish if ever my palate craves for something flavorful. Yes, you read it right, the meat is flavorful but...dry, too dry that it made me full when I was halfway on the dish.
Herbed Pork Tenderloin Steak with sauteed veggies and potato mojos
The first time I had this dish was okay, it was way too different this time. Although the serving is generous, I can't seem to imagine myself finishing the whole dish because it lacks juiciness. The gravy helps a little bit but still wasn't enough as it completely destroys the original herb flavor (I can taste oregano, rosemary and thyme correct me if I'm wrong Meatyard folks). If you want to stoop down the serving, get their Jr size for PHP170.
Meatyard's Honey Soy Garlic Chicken Crunch (PHP 160)
Honey Soy Garlic Chicken Crunch (PHP 160)
My wife and mum ordered the Honey Soy Garlic Chicken Crunch, the serving might look small thinking that it's the Jr version but it's not. The serving is like the regular version of the Herbed Pork Tenderloin Steak. This dish is very juicy, the skin is crunchy and has that garlicky taste, the chicken, on the other hand, is packed with flavors as the honey complements the strength of the soy resulting in a balanced and joyful taste that will linger in your mouth after eating it. Craving for more? Order their regular version for PHP210.
Meatyard's Fried Rice
Meatyard Fried Rice
If I'm not mistaken, their Meatyard Fried Rice is a playful take on the Java Rice. It's fluff but to the point that it will give a texture that will complement any meat you pair it with. The rice itself has it's own distinct flavor, much like buttery, herby and subtle. The regular size (PHP50) is good for 2-3 pax.
Beef Tenderloin Tapa w/ Egg (PHP160)
The Beef Tenderloin Tapa w/ Egg is very straightforward, although we are expecting a normal beef tapa, we were so wrong. The tapa is well seasoned, not rubbery as it is cooked very nicely. The egg provides extra texture on the overall dish and the seasoned vinegar with cucumber bits provided the kick needed for the dish. Try their Jr version for PHP130.
Shredded Beef Tenderloin w/ Mushroom (PHP170)
This is the main star of the night for me, their Shredded Beef Tenderloin w/ Mushroom. Talk about being fresh, flavorful, full of texture and best of all the price for its quality. For PHP170 for a regular plate (PHP140 for Jr), you'll get a generous serving of a thick-ish slice of beef tenderloin drizzled with its unique yet very tasty mushroom sauce. The taste is very similar to a cheesy carbonara, like literally, this dish is lit and I am proudly recommending it to everyone!

Water, water for days, remember that!
Aside from the confusing food serving method the overall service was okay. There's only one front-of-the-house staff at that time and she is manning both the counter and the diners which is very tiring, help the lady out!
